I was first introduced to Westies by my mother-in-law, Flo, and I fell in love, like she did, with the breed. Before she passed away, she gave me Lilly and a wish. I intend to keep her wish.
Before she passed away, we attempted to breed Ricky and Lilly, but we didn't think it took. The dogs then moved to FL with me and right at 62 days later, a surprise, one puppy was born. She was beautiful, and Flo was so happy to see a puppy from the two Westies she adored so much.
A year later we had the 6 pack, the nickname I gave the litter. Yep, there were 6 adorable Westies. Lilly is a wonderful mom. She would get all 6 of them to sleep at once for naps and bed time. I have to say she’s just awesome.
Lilly loves to play and is a big puppy herself. After the 6 pack, 6 months later, even though I separated the two, they snuck in a litter. Oh no, yep along came the triplets, three of the cutest little puffballs. Watching Lilly teach them during playtime was amazing. I have a lot on videos, and it’s very impressive.
I found ways to protect both Ricky and Lilly. Let’s just say I’m not going to let that happen again. They both wear “chastity belts.” That does it plus I separate them. Now it’s been over a year since the triplets, and my vet has given us the go for a litter. Wish us luck...
I work with all my puppies. They learn how to use a puppy pad and will learn “let's go outside.” They will know a “scooby snack” is a treat. I also start showing them the grooming tools. I'll take the clippers and show them it's not going to eat them and trim their nails. I play with their paws, so they learn that it's ok to get their nails trimmed. I use brushes and combs, so they know how they feel. I just want to prepare them for the outside world, so they won't be scared.
My Westies are my pets. They sleep with me and go places with me. They are my family, and I just adore them. They are funny, smart, beautiful and let’s face it, little stinkers. I just love them so much.
